What makes him powerful: Krevat is well known in the smart grid industry and is being recognized for his urgency in moving the smart grid forward while continuing to meet the needs and wants of consumers.
Krevat has made investing in renewables and the use of technology such as solar rooftops and electric vehicles a priority when it comes to seamless integration with the grid. Krevat has built a strong foundation in smart grid technologies, including self-healing grid technology, automated sub-station condition-based maintenance, advanced outage and distribution management systems, and microgrid projects funded by the U.S. Department of Energy and California Energy Commission.
Krevat believes that the success of smart meters and, ultimately, the success of the smart grid will depend on utility communication with customers about the technology -- when they will receive it, how it will work, what the benefits are, etc. Communicating with consumers about and educating customers on this forward-thinking technology is a priority for Krevat.
As the Director of San Diego Gas & Electric's (SDG&E) smart grid initiative, Krevat leads enterprise-wide smart grid strategy, policy and project alignment. Krevat currently serves on the Board of Directors of the GridWise Alliance, a smart grid advocacy coalition with the mission to transform the electric grid to achieve a sustainable energy future through the advocacy of well-reasoned smart grid policies at the federal, state and local levels.
In the past with SDG&E, Krevat has overseen information technology for advanced technology projects and the development of new systems to improve operating efficiency and customer experience. He has also directed information technology strategy and business partnership where he worked to align strategic direction between information technology and the utility business units, as well as infrastructure engineering and operations.
