"Solar generation is ideal for utilities as peak energy requirements generally occur mid-day, just when energy from the sun can be harvested through solar PV projects," said Ed Heacox, Vice President of Marketing for Advanced Energy Renewables, in an interview with FierceEnergy. "Utilities may be able to reduce infrastructure investments such as new fossil or nuclear plants and transmission lines by securing peak power from highly distributed solar projects."
Inverter and utility interactive control solutions make it easier for utilities to absorb distributed project energy generation into the grid.
According to IMS Research, Advanced Energy was one of the top market share gainers in 2010 in the global solar PV inverter market.
