AUO next gen solar tech simplifies solar

SunWize Technologies will distribute AU Optronics Corporation's (AUO) solar PV products in North America. AUO's product line includes the newly released AC Unison, a high-efficiency AC module with an integrated microinverter. AC Unison is designed for simple plug-and-play installation.

For utilities, the next generation solar technology reduces the complexity in building a distributed, renewable energy infrastructure and utility customers benefit from a faster, safer installation.

"This technology simplifies the design and installation of solar for homes and small businesses. It reduces some challenges to building a distributed energy generating infrastructure utilizing solar," Matt Ziskin, Senior Director of Marketing for SunWize, told FierceEnergy in an interview.

According to Ziskin, this technology allows for monitoring a solar system at the individual module level compared to more traditional systems which are either not monitored or are monitored as the entire system. 

"Individual module level monitoring allows for more comprehensive tracking of performance as well as alerts if there are any components that need to be replaced," Ziskin said. "Module level monitoring provides more visibility into a solar installation's performance which could pair nicely with the more detailed information that the smart grid provides."
