Boston to get living lab of advanced energy technology
Boston will soon be home to a living laboratory of advanced energy technology. The historic 100-year-old building at 5 Channel Center in Boston will undergo a deep energy retrofit to transform into a building technology showcase for clean energy technologies and research to accelerate the adoption of energy-efficient building technology.

The new Fraunhofer Center for Sustainable Energy Systems will use the latest in sustainable building systems, providing real-time performance data and results to encourage organizations to adopt these cutting-edge practices on their own.
Nearly 40 companies have donated a total of $2.7 million in energy-efficient building products. Researchers at the Center will evaluate the reliability and effectiveness of the technologies incorporated into the building, helping technology developers prove out their products with building-integrated and other applied research.
