Itron expands smart payment meter project

As part of the second phase of a nationwide project with the Azerbaijan Republic, Itron will supply more than 400,000 gas smart payment meters to SOCAR "Azeri Gas" Production Union (PU), a part of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR). The first phase saw the installation of 250,000 smart payment meters. The remaining deployment will be completed in February of 2013.

With smart payment meters, consumers can recharge their payment cards at several points throughout the country, including self-service terminals, and have simple and more widely spread access to effectively manage their gas consumption.
