Meru offers utilities rewind for wireless network management
Meru Networks has upgraded its E(z)RF Network Management Suite and introduced the SA2000 Network Management Appliance. The combination of solutions streamlines management and optimization of large wireless networks and gives administrators the ability to easily provision, test, troubleshoot and optimize them for higher overall quality of service while reducing IT overhead and cost.
Utility CTOs face challenges related to wireless networks. First, wired networks are all changing to wireless, liberating all the necessary devices into a truly mobile world. Second, wireless networks are moving to virtualized networks.
With the expansion of smart grid technology that is merging IT and OM, CTOs need to be able to depend on their network at all times.
"Meru's technology is the only system that puts the network in control, which gives the CTO the reliability, ease of management and affordable costing that he needs," a representative of Meru told FierceEnergy. "Also, Meru is the only WLAN network built to support the entire diverse spectrum of devices, not just casual-use laptops and tablet, but invaluable monitors and other "smart tech" devices that the utility industry depends on for smooth operations for their customers."
This E(z)RF launch in particular offers the CTO ease of operation and proactive troubleshooting that absolves worry and doubt about the performance of their network, according to the company.
"The ability to rewind to determine problem areas or proactively test to prevent them, means less time spent by IT managing the network and less cost to the CTO," the representative said.
