PA gets $82M for water infrastructure projects

Pennsylvania will see an $82 million investment into its water infrastructure through the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST).

Among the projects, Pittsburgh Water and Sewer Authority received a $2.9 million to eliminate service outages and breaks in the water distribution system by replacing approximately 75 gate valves in the distribution system.

Altoona Water Authority received a $6.6 million to install 23,000 meter interface units throughout the authority's water distribution system in order to improve water usage monitoring and significantly reduce costs.

The projects are funded with a combination of state funds approved by voters, federal EPA grants to PENNVEST, and recycled loan repayments from previous PENNVEST funding awards.
