Power Assure EMS with CPM meters provide improved demand forecasting
Power Assure has announced that its Power Assure EM/4 software is certified for use with STARLINE Critical Power Monitor (CPM) meters. This integration provides visibility, intelligence and automation that will help CIOs, IT directors, and facilities managers optimize capacity, service levels and power consumption within and across data centers, according to a statement.
"Power Assure EM/4 now provides Data Center Managers and Operators with the insight and intelligence to optimize the efficiency, utilization and performance of their data centers in a holistic way, combining all data sources from the facility and IT along with third-party reference information on power consumption and rack utilization for peak allocated power consumption and actual real-time power utilization," said Power Assure CTO Clemens Pfeiffer in an interview.
"Data centers can compare themselves against industry peers in the same geographic region or worldwide, compare utility pricing, and efficiency metrics and respond to alerts by subscribing to the Power Assure Global Energy Intelligence, a hosted environment that can be used by EM/4 customers for global integration and services,' Pfeiffer said.
Utilities will be interested in this technology for its ability to mitigate power grid congestion by alerting data centers of utility issues and utility companies of demand allocation and changes from data centers. The technology offers insight and intelligence by bringing large amounts of valuable usage and demand information from multiple data centers to a utility company that can be used for better planning and forecasting of power demand. Utilities can shape supply based on better demand forecast information and the have the ability to better manage energy pricing strategies.
