Telvent contract accelerates world's first cellulosic biomass refinery
Telvent GIT has been selected to design, manufacture and program a distributed control system for Hugoton, Kansas' second generation biomass plant. This will be the first commercial-scale cellulosic biomass refinery in the world.
Instead of corn or cane sugar, the plant will use either cellulosic biomass or plant fiber to produce bioethanol and is the first facility capable of producing bioethanol from non-food products on a commercial scale.
As the first ever commercial-scale cellulosic biomass plant, advanced simulation and technical support will be provided to develop the programming model and estimate the behavior of the facility under various scenarios, maximizing efficiency and allowing operators to optimize new operating procedures and identify responses to potential issues in advance.
